Books4U Intro Graphic

BACKGROUND

Books4U.com, a company specializing in textbook buyback, wanted to increase the number of students selling back their textbooks by promoting their buy-back page. The primary aim was to drive traffic to their buy-back page, where students could easily sell any textbooks they no longer needed. In addition to offering competitive buyback prices, the service included free shipping and flexible payment options, making it a highly attractive option for college students.

For this project, I collaborated with a copywriter to create a targeted, student-friendly flyer that communicated the ease and value of using the buyback service. This flyer was designed to be distributed around campus, capturing students’ attention and motivating them to visit the website to sell their textbooks.

THE PROJECT

The Details

The central objective of the project was to create a promotional piece that would make the textbook buyback process appealing, easy, and enticing for students. The flyer needed to emphasize the main call to action—to visit Book4U’s buy-back page—and highlight the unique benefits, such as competitive buyback prices, ease of receiving payment, and free shipping. The tone was crafted to be fun, friendly, straightforward, and helpful, appealing directly to the college demographic.

The flyer’s design and messaging were developed in collaboration with a copywriter, ensuring that the visuals and language aligned seamlessly to convey a unified, student-friendly experience. With clear messaging and bold, approachable visuals, the flyer was structured to capture attention and guide students directly to the website.

The Logo

For the logo, I created a custom illustration designed to visually communicate the essence of Books4U’s buyback service.

The logo features a stack of textbooks styled to look familiar to students, which was an intentional choice to create an immediate connection with the audience.

To reinforce the buyback concept, I illustrated cash emerging from the books, symbolizing the financial benefit of selling textbooks. This visual element was crucial in highlighting the value proposition—students can turn their unused books into cash.

The color palette was chosen with aesthetics that appeal to a younger demographic, using muted tones that are clean and modern.

This logo served as the visual anchor for the flyer, embodying the brand’s purpose and attracting attention with a friendly, approachable feel.

The Flyer Design

The flyer focused on grabbing attention and establishing a clear path to action. Using large, bold text and a catchy headline, the flyer immediately communicates the benefit of the buyback program. The design incorporated the website prominently to make it easy for students to find and access the buy-back page.

The flyer presented the key benefits of the service: competitive pricing for used textbooks, ease of receiving payment, and free shipping. This information was laid out in a clean, easy-to-read format, with a call to action that directed students to visit the buy-back page. The overall design tone was fun and straightforward, reinforcing that Books4U is a helpful resource for students looking to earn cash from their textbooks.

THE COMPLETION

Through strategic design and clear messaging, this project achieved its objective of positioning Books4U as an easy, reliable solution for students looking to sell their textbooks.

The custom logo design created a memorable brand identity that visually emphasized the buyback benefit, while the flyer provided a compelling narrative that encouraged students to visit the website and take action. By combining an engaging design with straightforward, helpful language, this flyer made the buyback process accessible and appealing.

The project delivered a promotional piece that resonated with the target audience, effectively meeting Book4U’s business goal of increasing traffic to their buy-back page and driving engagement among college students.
