BACKGROUND

Bret Harte Elementary’s PTA aimed to boost parental involvement with a creative, engaging flyer. Inspired by their election-year theme and bulldog mascot, they envisioned a patriotic design to rally enthusiasm for PTA sign-ups while sharing key benefits and membership details.

THE PROJECT

The Details

The flyer merged the school’s branding with an Uncle Sam-inspired design. I reimagined the bulldog mascot wearing a patriotic hat, paired with bold red, white, and blue visuals. The front side focused on encouraging sign-ups, featuring a QR code for easy access and a website link for traditional users. A bold, sans-serif font reminiscent of vintage posters tied the theme together.

The Illustration

The custom bulldog illustration in Uncle Sam’s hat created a playful yet inspiring tone. This unique element captured attention while fostering school pride and a sense of community.

The Flyer

The back highlighted the PTA’s mission, membership benefits, and how dues support school initiatives. It emphasized that only members could join special class activities, adding incentive. Clear calls to action, a QR code, and details on staying connected via Facebook and newsletters ensured accessibility and engagement.

THE COMPLETION

The patriotic flyer successfully encouraged PTA sign-ups while uniting the school community. Its bold design, creative illustration, and clear messaging bridged the gap between parents and the PTA, fostering stronger involvement and support for Bret Harte Elementary.
