I’ve recently been obsessed with making my own coffee syrup and I don’t see myself going back.

It’s one of those things that’s so simple and so low effort. Throw the ingredients in a pot, let simmer, cool then add flavors. Once you make it, you immediately wonder why you’ve been buying bottled syrups. And if you’re anything like me, you start dreaming about all the other flavors you can make (we’ll save that for another day).

I shared a reel on Instagram if you want to see a video version.

Ingredients + Supplies

steps

  1. Add water, sugar, and brown sugar to pot
  2. Stir until dissolved
  3. Bring to a simmer and stir occasionally (it will start to thicken)
  4. Once it’s to your liking, take it off the heat and let cool (very important)
  5. Once cooled, add vanilla extract and almond extract and stir well
  6. Pour into an airtight container
  7. Store in the fridge.

A few notes

  • It thickens as it cools (trust the process)
  • Let it cool before adding the extracts. The flavors will dull or evaporate if the mixture is too hot
  • Have fun and play around with the ratios until you get your perfect combo

There you have it, the simplest syrup to make your coffee feel like it came straight from the coffee shop without the price tag or needing to leave the house.

Hope you enjoy!
